Home Electrical Part 1: Understanding Electrical Theory - $20

08/12/2020 06:00 PM - 07:00 PM PT

Description

How does electricity flow from the powerplant to my home? What is the difference between Amps, Watts, and Volts? What is a circuit? And how about understanding that electrical panel?

Join us virtually for a live, Zoom presentation of Part 1 of a three-part series in Online Home Electrical. In this class, our vertern electrical teacher walks us through understanding residential electrical systems, and will discuss:

  • how to "map" your system by figuring out what is on which circuit breaker.
  • circuits and grounding (hot vs. neutral)
  • how to use a non-contact voltage tester
  • watts/volts/amps
  • wire gauge and proper insulation
  • resistance vs. conductivity
  • and how to double and triple check for safety before closing up your box and flipping your switches back on.

While meant to be the first of three, this class is also a great introductory to common electrical systems for those looking to boost their knowledge and confidence in this area.

This live, virtual seminar begins promptly at 6:00 and will be followed by Q&A.

Registration will close at 6:00pm the day before the seminar.
Cost: $20
