Wall framing is one of the most common jobs that carpenters take on. But wall framing to code often varies from place to place, and requires extra careful work in order to be completed safetly. Walls make up our habitats, workplaces, and pretty much anywhere that is "indoors".

In this live, virtual seminar, we'll talk briefly about local (Portland, OR) code requirements, as well general Wall Framing how-to's and tips that are sure to keep your future structure safe and secure for ages to come. In addition, we'll cover:

  • Basic wall frame anatomy
  • Placement of studs ("16 OC" vs. "24 OC")
  • King studs, Jack studs, headers, sills, cripples, and door/window openings.
  • How to frame corners
  • How and where to best to assemble a wall
  • Hand nailing vs. Nail guns
  • and plenty more!

This is a great class for beginners and those thinking about adding a room to their home or ADU. Our presentation begins promptly at 2:00, followed by Q&A.

What do I need to do/bring to virtual class? Please ensure that you have a good wifi connection and are set up in a quiet location. Students should also mute themselves and may also turn their camera off if they wish. Please note: your class may be recorded for future Rebuilding Center training or education.
