"Carry-Out" Electrical: Rewire a lamp! - $45

06/17/2020 06:00 PM - 07:15 PM PT

Description

Join us virtually for a live, video presentation where we'll gather to learn how to rewire an old lamp to be good as new!

This class is half seminar, half hands-on assembling. Using your "assembly-only" kit (which you will have picked up from the Rebuilding Center ahead of time--more on that below), our instructor will guide you through every step of the process: knowing basic parts of a table or floor lamp, understanding important safety features of a correctly assembled lamp, learning to test and troubleshoot a lamp with a multimeter, and of course, how to properly rewire and re-assemble a lamp!

No need to bring your own lamp--your "assembly-only" kit comes with one for you to rewire and keep! The only tools you will want to have ready and/or purchase ahead of time are: wire strippers, flat head screwdriver, and a philips head screwdriver. Your local hardware store should sell these tools for under $10, but Harbor Freight also sells them.

Presentation and assembly walk-though will begin promptly, followed by plenty of time for Q&A. Helpful instructional information will be emailed before class, and a recording of our class will be emailed upon its completion.

Cost: $45

FAQ's:

How do I pickup my "carry-out" kit? You will receive an email at least 2 business days before class, letting you know your kit is ready. You will then need to come to the Rebuilding Center where you may pick up your kit in a contact-less manner. Please remember to wear a mask upon arrival, and respect at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others.

How do I join this class online? Registrants will receive a link to a private Zoom webinar via email 24 hours before class begins. Please do not share your link with others.

What do I need to do/bring to virtual class? If you are using your own tools, have ready a set of wire strippers, a flat head screwdriver, and a philips head screwdriver. Please ensure that you have a good wifi connection and are set up in a quiet location. Students should also mute themselves and may also turn their camera off if they wish. Please note: your class may be recorded for future Rebuilding Center training or education.

How do I ask questions if I'm on mute? Please submit your questions through the "Chat" feature in your video call. Our instructor(s) will do their best to address each of them (time permitting).
